Easter Eggs are not all they're cracked up to be

It's lovely chomping down on an Easter egg as a special treat,
but sometimes, eating it is no mean feat.

I say, I'll just have a little piece and then I have more,
until the amount I eat is more than a score.

Not only that, after it's in my tummy, and I'm thinking, oh that was oh sooooo yummy.....
I think about the cost and what a waste,
it's cost over four pound for that special taste.

When I could have got two bars of chocolate for just two pounds and had more of it too.
Do you feel that way too?

..........

But still, you can't beat looking at that Easter egg sitting on the side,
knowing that any minute, it will be going on a slippery ride.

In through you mouth and down to your tummy.
Oh yes please, yummy- yummy - yummy.

Shopping for fun

Oh yes! I spent half an hour shopping for myself to day.
That's before I had to do the food shopping and pay.

I actually browsed in a ladies clothes shop and even took time to rummage through the sale.
It was a unique experience, something I've not done for a while.

I managed to buy myself something for a change, and one of those items was from the dearer range.

I felt almost euphoric as I walked proudly down the street, half smiling at everyone I did meet.

I'll buy myself an Easter egg, I thought to myself. Then thought about the affects on my health.

So I went into the sweet shop and bought some apple sweets.
With the word 'apple' in it, surely, they must be healthy treats.

They're sat in the cupboard as we speak, and I know what you're thinking -  but I'm not even going to peak.

Instead, I've made myself a cup of tea and I'm munching on a sausage roll.
Sometimes my life can be so droll.

..........

But there's always later when we're watching the telly, when my husband declares, ' I need something nice for my jelly belly.'

Carpe diem

When you wake up in the morning and feel the warmth of the sun in the air,
Procrastinate if you dare.

Don't waste your time with porridge or scrambled eggs and the like;
get out into the sunshine and jump on your bike.

You can snack on that breakfast bar that you love so,
as you feel excited and eager to go.

There's a whole world out there to explore,
and feeling the wind against our backs -
makes us want to learn more.

..........

If sport isn't for you, and you have no idea what to do, just
turn off the telly and do things that make you, you.

Pick up a book, write a story or learn something knew, it really is  the only true way, for you to be happy, and
'seize the day.'

A Tanka ( No, not a tankard)

I'll give it a try
But I so want to rhyme it
It is so very hard
Am I getting better now
I think I am - am I not?

PROCRASTINATION

Is my word of the day,
it fits me in every conceivable way.

I have a story summary to write,
but it's proving to be a terrible fight.

I've to put my name and title on every page,
and that won't guarantee me a wage.

Then I have to proof - read it for the hundredth time,
it's so much easier to just sit and rhyme.

.....

Just when this huge task will be performed is anyone's guess,
because I'm procrastinating big time...oh yes!

I started it in two thousand and ten,
yes, I've been procrastinating since then.

But according to my peers' critical appraisal, I know they like my style,
so perhaps my hard work will all be worth while.

.....

But alas! at the moment procrastination is becoming my friend,
and I'm not sure I want this feeling to end.

It's nice just taking my time, relaxing, writing and drinking red wine.

At least for a few weeks at least,
for I'm sure, procrastination is a powerful beast.

I'll not let it overwhelm my creative flow you'll see,
for I'm going to change the word to alacrity.

.....

But first, I have to put my dictionary away, and save some words for another day.

There may be trouble ahead!

I've had to change my Blog because I've left the company.
I hope that my friends and family will still follow me.

There may be good or bad times ahead -
there may be a lot of happiness or dread.

But who knows what the world has in store, there may be money galore.
Or my new future may be poor.

-----

But I feel better than I've felt in a long long time,
and I'm grateful for my therapeutic rhyme.

It's seen me through some good and bad times,
my wonderful eclectic rhymes.

So onward and upward I go.
Without my tropical heatwave glow.
