Rain is my best friend.

I heard a clap of thunder and it made me smile.

I hoped it would rain for a while.

Because it is too hot for me to bear.

For this heat I do not care.

I listened intently at the clap it made.

But instead of coming nearer, it started to fade.

Then we had a spot of rain.

But that red hot sun came out again.

I love our summers I really do.

But being hot and sticky is making me blue.

I'm sitting here as still as can be,

with the sweat pouring out of me. 

I did the ironing and got really hot.

Oh how I love 23 degrees.....

NOT!

Now I'm going to open the oven door.

I wonder if I could crawl on the floor.

Then that tropical heatwave will miss my face,

and I can dish those chips up with a certain amount of grace.

Nutters everywhere!

I really do despair, 

there are nutters everywhere.

This morning a white van tried to park on a busy road.

I really felt I would explode.

There was nowhere to park.

What a lark!

So he sits there in the middle of the road and waves his arms for me to go by.

Which would have meant me veering into the oncoming cars.

Oh my!

I can do many things but not even I can fly.

So how the heck was I supposed to pass by.

In the end he drove further along the road.

The slimy, red faced toad. 

Then as if that wasn't enough to annoy me.

A manic motor bike I did see.

He looked down the road then pulled out on me.

I wanted to give him the third degree.

Then he looked at me in a nonchalant way as if to say,

so what if you have the right of way.

So mate, I'll tell you this,

if you don't slow down you'll be as a cold as a fish.

So drivers out there beware,

of the Joe 90 stare,

for these riders can pop up anywhere.

That's done me for the day.

Am I going out again,

NO WAY!

Holiday time is coming to an end.

We went to town today and managed to find a place to park.

It wasn't even dark.

That's not to say that the tourists have all gone.

They haven't all moved on.

In fact, the holiday makers were still mulling and meandering around.

Picking their ice cream up off the ground.

Well only one lad really,

who'd been messing around and acting silly.

We managed to find a place in our favourite coffee shop.

We were able to linger awhile and not treat it as a truck-stop.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti holiday makers.

But when they go.........I do love it so.

From September we will be able to go into a shop without barging through a family of four.
Who have straddled themselves across the door.

We will be able to leave home later because there will be less traffic, 
and no silly drivers will be getting on our wick.

But really, I will miss them them when they're gone.
Because who will I blame my misdemeanours on?

Writers Block

I've got nothing to do and nothing to say.

Hopefully, it's only for today.

Calm, serene, gentle and majestic is the view across the bay.

Would I want to live anywhere else...no way!

The yachts glide gracefully across the glistening sea,

and the people here feel happy and free.

I am truly grateful that I live on this isle,

because it suits my crazy, laid back style.

I need a tummy tuck!

Watching the Olympics is making me tired.

But I am being inspired.

Today, I went for a walk with my hubby,

because I'm hoping to get rid of my big fat tummy.

I was hungry yesterday, I'm hungry today and tomorrow, I'll stop dieting!

I'm cutting my food intake for a while.

Which is not normally my style.

Already I can feel the effect,

for the human race, I have no respect.

For all you slim guys out there.

I'm having chocolate withdrawal symptoms, so

BEWARE!

Shall we have a BBQ my son declared.

It wasn't really anything to dread.

It's a bit windy don't you think, I proffered.

He didn't seem too bothered.

So we had a BBQ and it went quite well.

Even though the wind did swell.

Then hubby opened the front door and the wind ignited a flame.

Really, no one was to blame.

The fire caught the edge of the wooden swing and caught it alight.

With the swing and water we did fight.

We flooded the BBQ and the Swing.

It was such a silly thing.

But it all ended well. 

Though the wood did swell.
