The art of dipping biscuits
For me, there's nothing so British as a nice cup of tea,
but saying that, there is something better that fills me with glee.
I love dunking my biscuits in a cup of Earl Grey,
and you can do it at any time of the day.
But what are the best biscuits to use?
Which ones will last the longest, and which ones will drop on your shoes?
I'm going to start with the worse one of all.
The one that doesn't last long and into the cup will fall.
It's the Rich Tea finger, yes that's the one.
When being dunked, it's not much fun.
You have to dip it in real quick,
because it breaks in half,
and fishing it out gets on your wick.
The next specimen is the Digestive, which is not as bad.
But it still doesn't last long, and when it dissolves,
it sticks to the bottom and makes you sad.
For me, the Custard Cream and the Bourbon biscuit are the real thing.
But the downside is, bits float on the top and it really gets under your skin.
But there is one biscuit that will never break up or let you down,
and that's the Garibaldi.
It's the type of biscuit that will never make you frown.
You can dip it in for ages without it disintegrating.
Which is rather irritating.
Because although that biscuit has an awful lot going for it.
It should be thrown into a deep dark pit.
It seems to be made up of currants and pastry,
and the taste doesn't really suit me.
But wait, I've forgotten the Ginger Nut, it's a biscuit beyond compare.
If you need extra time to dunk, he's your man... he will always be there.
.................
.................
I like the chocolate biscuit myself, but it never manages to be put to the test.
But I just know that it would be the best.
I'm so confident that it would win hands down.
That I want to give it the triple crown.
I really should test it I know.
I should dunk them nice and slow.
But it would mean not eating them before they get to the tea.
I haven't got it in me to torture them so,
especially when they've been good to me.
They've been there when I've felt down and when guests come around.
I couldn't betray them, the whole idea just isn't sound.
No, I'm not going to dispel the mystery they infuse.
It would simply give me the blues.
Take my word for it, chocolate biscuits are the best dunkers in my minds eye.
And in order to keep the dream alive, I'm going to keep those biscuits dry
